This Week at Stony: PARCC Testing, Report Cards & a Recap of Last Week!

On the calendar this week:

  • Monday, April 11: PARCC Testing Starts (grades 3,4, & 5)
  • Monday, April 11: Town Council/School Committee Joint Budget Hearing at NKHS, 6pm*
  • April 12- April 14: Kindergarten & New Student Registration
  • Wednesday, April 13: All Town Strings Concert at NKHS (7pm)
  • Friday, April 15: Report Cards (online for grades 1-5)

*Please plan to attend this meeting and show your support for the school budget. Citizen comments are welcome! Your support is critical. The less support the budget gets- the less money the Town Council will give to the School Committee and the more cuts will need to be made. If you are unable to attend the meeting, the next best option is to email the Town Council: towncouncil@northkingstown.org

Next Week:

  • April 18-22: Spring Vacation

Updates:

The Stony Lane PTO Board is looking to fill a co-secretary position for the 2016-2017 school year and we’d love for you to join our group of volunteers! Please email stonylanepto@gmail.com if interested.

Besides all of the Reading Week activities, kindergarten students also had the opportunity to plant pea seeds on Friday morning. A total of 500 seeds were planted in the school garden by our kindergartners and parent volunteers. The children demonstrated their math skills by placing the pea seeds 5 inches apart on newspaper strips and then discussed what components are necessary for seeds to grow. It was a great learning experience! The seeds should start to sprout in May and at that point will be harvested and brought to Davisville Middle School for their Blessings in a Backpack Program. The Garden Committee is currently seeking volunteers for fun projects like these. Please contact Kim at kimberlyblanchette@rocketmail.com if you would like to join!

This past Friday, Stony Lane students showed off their many and varied talents onstage at the annual talent show. Thank you to all the students who performed and to the staff for entertaining us with an epic lip sync battle! A special thank you to Sheri Masiello and her crew for putting on such a wonderful show! We cannot thank you enough for all the time, effort and energy you put into producing such an amazing show!
