The Stony Lane PTO’s motto is “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something!” With that in mind, the PTO has created Committees to help organize and run various programs and events offered to our students and their families. This allows volunteers to work on smaller teams, under the leadership of a Coordinator/Co-Coordinator, and to help donate their time, talent and resources in a way that best suits them!
Please review the below Committees and consider how you might get involved. Here is a link (Link to come) to the Coordinators/Co-Coordinators for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. As always, please reach out to the PTO members or any of the individual Coordinators with your questions or ideas. Thank you for your time!
FAMILY FUN
This Committee plans events for the Stony Lane community. These events are generally outside of the school day and are to include our students and their families. The PTO strives to make these events free or as affordable as possible for our Stony Lane families, so please continue your support of the PTO, through the Annual Gift Campaign (LINK HERE) or in any way that you can so the PTO can keep its efforts going!
Events: Back to School Picnic, Harvest Festival, Sweetheart Dance, Family Fun Color Run, and End of Year Family Recess.
ENRICHMENT
This Committee works to provide educational, team building and socially conscious programs to our Stony Lane students. Volunteers are needed before, during and after the school day to help with these activities, which offers volunteers the opportunity for a look at how students interact daily. If you have a talent or interest to share for any of these enrichment areas, please consider getting involved!
Events: Chess Club, Cultural Arts and Assemblies, Composting, Healthy Bodies/Healthy Minds, Outdoor Classroom and Garden, Resident Photographer, School Store, and Science Fair.
STONY COMMUNITY
This Committee works all year to keep the grounds at Stony Lane looking beautiful and welcoming to our families and visitors. Volunteers will work inside the school to assist staff and teachers in the library, with the student newspaper or to design the yearbook. They plan activities that acknowledge, support and celebrate our wonderful staff and teachers who work so hard every day, and they help bid farewell to our 5th grade students!
Activities: Grounds Beautification, Hospitality, Library, Teacher Appreciation, Yearbook, 5th Grade Farewell, and Newspaper.
ADMINISTRATION
This Committee assists with more of the behind-the-scenes administrative tasks that help parents and families be able to volunteer within a school setting, help the PTO with its financial obligations, and help keep the Stony Lane community connected! If you have a skill set or background that allows you to assist with any of these tasks, the PTO would greatly appreciate your help!
Activities: Audit, BCI Facilitation, Birthday Bulletin Board, School Directory, and Welcome PTO Bulleting Board.
**Please note that to volunteer in-school or on field trips, you must have a valid BCI, from the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General, on file with the LINKS Office of the North Kingstown School Department for each school year (valid only from July 1st through June 30th for each calendar year). The PTO will facilitate BCI events in the summer and fall to assist you with this process. Please visit LINKS North Kingstown to see what information you will need.
FUNDRAISING SUPPORT
All of our Committees are important, but the Fundraising Committee and your contributions and support are what allows the PTO to offer all that it does each and every year! The monies that are raised from the fundraising events go directly back into the PTO budget so it can continue to offer quality and engaging programs that are educational and fun for all of our students and families. The PTO also uses these funds to give back to local non-profits in the community. We hope that you can find a way to support the PTO financially or with your time and talents.
We appreciate anything that you can do!
Events: Book Fair, Free Money Programs, Grants, Spirit Wear, Talent Show, and Give Back Charity Campaign.
** Please visit our new Spirit Wear Store on Rally Up, Spirit Wear Store where you can purchase Stony Lane wear for all of your family, and it will be brought home by your student shipped to student classroom.
The general meetings of the PTO are held bi-monthly in the Stony Lane School Library. Everyone is welcome to attend. The meetings for 2025-2026 will be every other month. (Meeting Dates to Come)
Please consider joining when you can!
